Catering to discerning fans of fine film with personal attention to every customer...we are Salem's only independently owned & operated movie theater specializing in art, foreign, independent & exceptional film.

Salem Cinema has been a cultural hub of our thriving city since 1982, dedicated to enriching our community by providing year-round films, educational programs, and a venue for engaging activities. We present the richness of American and world cinema, including live-filmed performances such as theatre, dance, opera and other musical events and see film as a source of cultural literacy, learning and vision for the future as well as a place for discovery, community and delight.

In addition to broadening horizons and cultural awareness and understanding through the art of film, we are proud to offer a fundraising asset to our many local non-profit organizations by way of hosting movie benefit nights in partnership with their own missions.

ONLY IN OREGON lists Salem Cinema as the #1 theater in Oregon to offer an unforgettable viewing experience!

We have temporarily discontinued the sale of CineBucks at this time. We so appreciate each and every one of you who purchased our CineBucks at the beginning of the shutdown. We're hoping that as we try to find our footing after several long months of being closed that if you do choose to use them at this time, you will use them sparingly as an influx of money will be what helps keep our doors open. Because restrictions required that we change to an online-only ticketing system to accommodate social distancing and contact tracing, we are currently unable to accept CineBucks for ticket purchase, but we will happily take them at our concession counter. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we make our way to the other side of this incredibly difficult year.

Please keep in mind that while we are willing to try to work in a private theater rental around our regularly scheduled programming, studio restrictions and staffing often dictate our decisions. The further ahead we can try to plan around your requested date and time, the better chance we have of being able to consider your event. Thank you for your patience and flexibility! You may contact us here to inquire.

Our ticketing company is Veezi and so any ticket purchases made with your credit card may show up on your statement as either Veezi or Vista.

Due to strict social distancing policies and reduced capacity seating, we highly encourage purchasing your tickets online in advance to assure your spot prior to arriving at the cinema. Please note, however, that if you are unable to attend a film or event for which you've purchased tickets, we are only able to offer a refund prior to the screening time of the ticket purchased. Once the screening time has passed, we are unable to offer a refund due to film industry technicalities. In the occasion when an event has sold out, there can be no refunds or exchanges. Thank you for your understanding!

Please keep in mind that Salem Cinema is an arthouse theater and as such, the majority of our films are adult-oriented. On the rare occasion that we play a film that is appropriate for a younger audience, we will continue to advertise previews that, while suitable for all audiences, are for our upcoming films which may be rated R. If you feel more comfortable, you may choose to leave the auditorium during the previews and return to your seat when your film begins.

Salem Cinema Age Policy: Due to customer complaints and disruptions from people who have chosen to bring young children with them to inappropriate movies, we have created a policy in which no child under the age of 12 will be admitted to specific films.

We are ADA compliant, offering wheelchair accessibility as well as
audio & closed caption equipment for the hearing impaired and equipment
with audio description capability for the visually impaired. Please note that not
all studios offer closed captions or audio descriptions for their movies.
